Welcome to CMHRC!

My name is Elizabeth Errico and I’m the founder and Executive Director of the Children’s Mental Health Resource Center (CMHRC). I’m mental health professional, educator, advocate, and parent to two thriving children, both of whom have faced mental health challenges.  Years of tirelessly advocating on their behalf have taught me that in the quest to get equal access, opportunity, and appropriate accommodations for our children our greatest allies are the other families and providers who are doing the same!

I’d like to take a minute to share with you information about Children’s Mental Health Resource Center (CHMRC). We are a national nonprofit that has been designed for, by, and about families living with childhood onset mental illness. From our board of directors, to staff, to volunteers we represent this lived experience.

We know our best tool to facilitate positive outcomes in adulthood is early intervention and treatment in childhood. But too few children have the necessary access to get an accurate diagnosis and a treatment plan that works. CMHRC’s mission is to provide guidance and resources for the early identification and management of mood disorders and other mental health challenges in children and teens.  Our comprehensive programs support families as they navigate the mental healthcare system and manage their child’s school needs, which require accommodations that are often unavailable.

Mental illness is extremely isolating for children and families, and they often feel alienated from family and friends who don’t understand the reality of their daily life. They are also often dismissed by providers who are reluctant to treat children with significant mental illnesses and challenging symptoms. CMHRC provides a safe place for parents and caregivers to connect with, and be supported by, others families facing the same struggles.

Through our network of programs and services CMHRC supports families at every stage of their journey. By providing direct services to families as well as the providers who treat them and the schools they attend, CMHRC is able to put protective arms around families as we shepherd them along the path to stability.

If you’re here reading this, you may be in need of the connection we offer. I hope you will take a minute to look at the extensive list of free resources we offer to families and providers.

I look forward to working together to support you, your families, the communities with whom you work, and to give you a community you can call home.

Best,
